Poetry and Music – the links of cadence and rhythm, expression and emotion complement each other in memorable ways.
The relationship is song, because a song is poetry set to music. But it is deeper than this, as we relate better to music which is “lyrical”, having similar phrasing and rhythms to poetry. So this concert is for all lovers of “song” – words by such outstanding poets as Tennyson, Lear, Blake, Lennon, Gilbert, Brennan, Coleridge. Music by outstanding composers like Stanford, Sullivan, Bowen, Chilcott, Costeley, Snyder, Mendelssohn, Beethoven, Lennon. This will be a wonderful concert for everyone and certainly not one to be missed.
