‘Poetic Inspirations’
Christopher Bowen was commissioned this year to write a major work to be dedicated in honour of Professor Marie Bashir AC CVO Governor of New South Wales and Chancellor of the University of Sydney. 'Songs of the Heart', by Christopher Bowen, is a collection of poems by the important Sydney poet, Christopher Brennan. One of these poems, 'Sweet Silence After Bells' in memorium of Joan Whittaker a former member of both the Sydney University Graduate Choir and the Central Coast Chorale, had its premier performance at the Central Coast Chorale's Gala Concert on 9th August 2009. This new work will be presented in the presence of Professor Marie Bashir by the Sydney University Graduate Choir and Orchestra at a concert POETIC INSPIRATIONS to be held on Saturday 10th December at 8pm in the Verbrugghen Hall at the Conservatorium of Music, Sydney. The concert will also feature Richard Mitchell (Baritone) and Owen Torr (Harp).

‘Christmas at the Sydney Town Hall’
Christopher Bowen conducted the orchestra and three of his choirs; The Sydney University Graduate Choir, The Central Coast Chorale and the Sydney Community Choir. This concert will also feature the Central Coast Children’s Choir conducted by Jenny Bell, the Music Director and Robert Ampt, the City Organist, at the grand Sydney Town Hall Organ and the Royal Australian Navy Band.
